Rabbits are herbivores and eat only plant matter. Belonging to the group called Lagomorphs, their teeth grow throughout their lives. There are many types of pet rabbits and some can live up to 8 years.




What are rabbits like ?

Rabbits wake up at dawn and dusk. They are scared easily by loud noises or sudden movements and may kick or bite when frighten. It dislike being pick up and needs time alone to rest and play. As it's teeth keep on growing, it need to chew on things to keep them trimmed.

What type of rabbit should I get ?

All types of rabbits have almost the same needs. But bigger rabbits need more room and food. Like people, rabbits also have different personalities.

How many should I get ?

Rabbits like have company. It's best to get two female as two male will only fight each other.

How do I hold a rabbit ?

When picking your rabbit up, remember to support its bottom or it may become very scared. Put one hand around her body and the other below her. Never pick it up by the ears.

How do I look after my rabbit ?

Rabbits need a cool place to live in. It's cage need to have a solid floor or it may get hurt. The bedding needs to be changed daily. Rabbits can clean themselves and only need owners to clean them when they are very dirty.



What do rabbits eat ?

Rabbits are herbivores and only eat plant matter. You can feed it fresh vegetables and fruits such as carrot, xiao pai chai or apple. However, feeding it too much will make your rabbit fat and unhealthy. Some rabbit eat too much because they are bored, to solve this provide gnawing sticks or rabbit-safe toys to keep it entertain.

Should I breed my rabbit ?

No! Rabbits can have up to 10 babies at once and it will not be easy to find good new homes for all the babies. Neutering or spaying can help prevent your pet from having babies.
